Ok, I have to admit I'm partial to the way Wind Tiki makes their food and it's probably because I've been going there since they opened. We've tried other Asian restaurants throughout Worcester County and they just don't taste as good to us. When Wind Tiki opened back in the day it was really nice inside. They always had white tablecloths on all the tables and green cloth napkins tucked into the tea cups. There was a fountain that ran from the ceiling right in the middle of the back dining room and a huge plant in the middle of the front dining room that reached up to a glass dome. Many years later and there's a half ass fountain and the glass dome has been blocked out. No more tablecloths and napkins...heck they don't even give you tea unless you ask! Everything else is exactly the same. The same wallpaper and decor ( except you can see the dirty outlines of decor that's missing from the walls). The same lime green seats (and the springs have been long gone) that have tape covering the rips. But, the food is still really good and I have such good memories of all our important family celebrations taking place here that we'll keep coming back!!!

Wind Tiki is a classic. I always found that part of the fun of this place WAS the fact that its a leftover relic from the 1970s. There are probably places in LA that would be considered a landmark for looking like this ... and places in NYC would pay an interior designer thousands to re-create the Boogie Nights-era vibe of a swingin' 70s Polynesian disco lounge. Its fun and kitchy and I hope it doesn't change to some cheesy modern type of place. Aside from the time capsule decor, you will find some great food. I judge Chinese places (more particularly buffets) in two categories ... those that have fresh food and those that have frozen bagged food dropped into a deep fat fryer in mass quantities. If you like fresh tasting food that was prepared in smaller batches, try Wind Tiki. If you are the type (and I understand there are many of these people out there) who prefer the greasy, wholesale store frozen bags of chicken fingers fried up, try Empire Walk down the street. There is a lunch buffet at Wind Tiki ... you will find a good variety of Chinese food prepared in small batches, tasting fresh. Crisp Broccoli and everything doesn't get stale under the heat lamps. You won't find the variety you would at one of those disgusting 120 entree buffets. Sure, you have about 5 more buffet lines worth of choices at those place but its always the same stale, tasteless food. You will have choices such as general tso's chicken, beef sticks, broccoli beef, boneless spare ribs and chicken fingers. You will also find a very nice fried rice, lo mein and egg foo yung. There is also ambrosia salad for the end of the meal which is awesome. The drinks are the same fruity lighter fluid you'd get at any other place. For those unfamiliar with Webster, MA ... its off 395. All you need to know about Webster is that there is a chinese food place, a strip bar and a pawn shop within a few feet of each other. Try the Wind Tiki and you won't be sorry. The food is good and if you didn't have a chance to live through the 70s ... one could almost hope to see an episode of Starsky and Hutch playing in the bar. Cool vibe!
